Sono stato colpito da due frasi di Renzo Piano:
“Una città non è disegnata, semplicemente si fa da sola. Basta ascoltarla, perché la città è il riflesso di tante storie.”
“L’Italia ha una bellezza fragile. Da qui dobbiamo ripartire. La fragilità va protetta. La città, lascito favoloso della nostra storia, tende a mangiarsi il paesaggio. Le periferie sono luoghi degradati, a volte pericolosi, deserti affettivi. Però hanno un’anima, un’energia.”
In questa personale ricerca fotografica nei territori confusi e trasformati della periferia della mia città ho provato a cercare alcune storie, indagando sulle tracce di mestieri artigianali, ormai sempre più rari, ma che ancora hanno un'anima.
Gli artigiani che ho incontrato sono un pò preoccupati per queste trasformazioni e di non poter tramandare le loro esperienze, la loro arte e anche le loro storie di vita. Ma ho comunque trovato linfa vitale ed energia pulsante!
I was struck by two sentences by Renzo Piano:
"A city is not designed, it simply makes itself. Just listen to it, because the city is a reflection of many stories."
"Italy has a fragile beauty. From here we must start again. Fragility must be protected. The city, a fabulous legacy of our history, tends to eat away at the landscape. The suburbs are degraded places, sometimes dangerous, emotional deserts. But that still have a soul, an energy."
In this personal photographic research in the confused and transformed territories on the outskirts of my city I tried to look for some stories, investigating the traces of craft trades, now increasingly rare, but still have a soul.
The craftsmen I met are a bit worried about these transformations and about the fact that they would not pass on their experiences, their art and also their life stories. But I still found lifeblood and pulsating energy!
